About Michael Cohen, founder.
Mike's has been dedicated to neurofeedback for 10 years. He got into the field after neurofeedback training helped a family member with major depression. That problem had not responded to medications or ECT. His goal from that beginning has been to get this to more clinicians and to
more people who need it and can benefit from it.

Over the years, he's helped hundreds of health professionals get started in neurofeedback. He's been involved in all aspects of education, consulting, practice development, and helping support clinicians who are learning neurofeedback. As Director of Education of EEG Spectrum International from 2002 thru 2005, he helped create and teach a course that has been described as setting the standard for the field. He developed and taught an advanced course for clinicians since 1999, designed to improve their skills and understanding of the EEG, training strategies, and protocol options, that he's taught around the world.
For the last 3 years, Mike's been co-chair with Tom Brod, MD for the neurofeedback CME workshop at the annual American Psychiatric Association. He is currently the secretary of ISNR, the neurofeedback/qEEG professional association. He's also taught workshops at ISNR, the Clinical Interchange and other conference workshops for the last few years.
In 2004, he created a monthly interview series in neurofeedback called the Phone Forum. It's for clinicians who've already been trained. It's a very practical one hour audio interview that comes on CD. It brings the experience and expertise of clinicians for PTSD, depression, ADD, autism, etc. - by really digging in to how they apply neurofeedback protocols or other adjuncts to their clients/patients. It's been a very popular series, as it allows relatively new and experienced clinicians to understand the rationale of some of the top clinicians, as well as other experienced clinicians.
Some clinicians who've been to his courses have suggested Mike write a book explaining neurofeedback for professionals. In a way, this is the beginning of that book. But since much of the information came from many clinicians and researchers who openly shared their experiences and knowledge, it seemed right to share it with others. We hope this web site follows in that spirit. The web is the easiest way to make information accessible to many.
ADDRESSING A PROBLEM: Too many clinicians who get intrigued in neurofeedback get caught up in a focus on the equipment. Yet it's the learning where the real cost and the opportunity exists. Imagine people saying they are going to choose a university for their degree based on who offers them the cheapest computer and books. Neurofeedback is a discipline, and the core issue is to learn it and how to use it.
Accessing a network of knowledge
There is a wealth of knowledge, talent and experience in neurofeedback with some highly credentialed, solid clinicians and researchers. We try to provide different points of view from many experienced clinicians rather than one single point of view, which is often what is presented.
We provide a lot of information on this web site, and discuss a lot of questions you should be asking. But it's still pretty overwhelming to make decisions about the right equipment, the right courses, or the right options. Neurofeedback Solutions provides a range of ways to help both new and experienced clinicians, or organizations looking to adopt neurofeedback. We do offer some advice to consumers, though not any clinical advice. Click her for more on the company and how we can help regarding equipment, courses, mentoring and more.
